Another example is if you can hit long balls then focus on a ball with a lot of distance. If the course has a lot of short play then you may want to look at golf balls with spin control.

Another good practice is going out to a cheap course and sample each type of golf ball to see what results you're getting. You will know when to use where based on your results.
